Why Are Seniors Prone To Respiratory Issues? Dehydration, Of Course!

Image result for senior drinking water IMAGESometimes the solution is SO simple that most people miss it…especially in a world more focused on prescriptions than logic.  Not drinking enough (if any) water is a common UN-RECOGNIZED problem that puts our seniors at UNNECESSARY risk day after day all across America.  Water is the most important nutrient for the human body and when we refuse to consume it we pay the price…especially our seniors.  It doesn’t take much for a dehydrated body to succumb to things like respiratory issues when the lungs lack the fluids they were designed to have!  How can we expect a body to fight back if we refuse to give it what it needs to do battle?

“SO MANY HEALTH ISSUES ARE RELATED TO DEHYDRATION”

As we age we lose our sense of thirst, so if hydrating is a matter of “feeling thirsty” we’ll likely remain dehydrated.   Sometimes hospitals look more like hydration stations than treatment centers.  Just hook-up an I.V. bag to a chronically dehydrated person and you’ll likely see a turnaround in no time at all!  That’s not to say that antibiotics aren’t sometimes necessary too, but consuming enough good old H2O naturally laced with minerals is the key to avoiding all kinds of ailments.

“So many health issues are related to inadequate hydration,” including urinary tract and respiratory infections, frequent falls and other problems, said study author Janet Mentes. She is a professor of nursing at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

According to the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, adults older than 65 have the highest hospital admission rates for dehydration In fact, when it comes to conditions brought on by dehydration, there was a 5% increase in “preventable emergency department visits” between 2008 and 2012 alone!  Apparently we aren’t catching-on to the NEED to dehydrate to stay healthy and we’re filling up the emergency rooms over something that could so simply be avoided.

“UNDERLYING DEHYDRATION NOT RECOGNIZED”

“Many seniors are under-hydrated for a long period of time, and when they are exposed to a virus or bacteria they are more likely to develop an infection, such as urinary tract infections, pneumonia or other respiratory diseases,” Mentes said in a UCLA news release.

“And they will be treated for the infection, but the underlying under-hydration will not be recognized,” she added. “Thus, an opportunity to educate the individual about adequate fluid intake is missed.”

NOT JUST “PLENTY OF FLUIDS”

I’m not sure where the “plenty of fluids” agenda came from, but absolutely nothing replaces the body’s need for water naturally laced with minerals.  Not dying of thirst (by consuming some sort of fluid) and remaining hydrated are two very different things!  Attempting to hydrate with bottled water isn’t going to cut it because all vital minerals have been REMOVED from bottled water  – the body NEEDS those minerals in water to perform!  I wonder, can bottled water categorically be referred to as “water” if there are no minerals that define the H20?

WRITE YOUR OWN PRESCRIPTION!

Everyone…everywhere…especially our seniors… should begin writing their own “prescription” for proper hydration beginning TODAY.

Make a commitment to drink the volume of water your body needs to properly function.   Most people require a minimum of 64 ounces of water a day!

If you don’t like the idea of tap or well water (I sure don’t) then find a water solution to help you filter out the bad and make your water HEALTHY without removing vital minerals.  If you need help figuring that part out,  this short-read will help you identify water that is actually beneficial to the human body so that you can avoid drinking water that does you more harm than good!

Keep a log if you need to!  All those little “sips” don’t usually add up to enough water to keep a plant live! Do whatever you have to do to be sure you’re drinking as much as your body NEEDS.

Maybe if instructions for proper hydration were written on a prescription pad LOTS of people would be sure to do it!  Since that isn’t likely to happen, be true to yourself!

Remaining properly hydrated fends off COUNTLESS medical “conditions!”  for the old AND the young!

The solution is SO simple…be sure you don’t miss it in your search for “medical advice” and prescriptions.

Experts Blame Dehydration for Stroke Damage? It’s About Time!

stroke brain

Headlines in a an article published by Everyday Health reads  “Dehydration Leads to Greater Stroke Damage”.  More accurately it should read  “Dehydration Leads to Greater Stroke Risk“.  Dehydration is your enemy and it’s time to give it the blame that it deserves. The human brain is 85% water and the blood is 90% water.  When the body is deprived of water, the consequences go well beyond what most people understand.  We’ve replaced the body’s NEED for water with a beverage-of-choice and we no longer recognize the signs of dehydration.

Dr. Paul Bendheim, a clinical professor of neurology from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, says there are no hard-and-fast rules for staying well-hydrated, despite recommendations to drink eight glasses of water each day.   That’s a no-brainer! Obviously the amount of water each individual needs depends on a number of factors;  activity, weight and status of health just to name a few.  Dr. Bendheim goes on to say, “prior research found that the majority of people are dehydrated when they have a stroke, but it’s not clear why”.  How in the world can it not be clear why people are dehydrated?  It’s interesting to note that most heart attacks and strokes happen in the middle of the night when the body is the most dehydrated.  It’s a very good thing to drink water before you retire for the night!

The 8 Glasses of Water a Day Rule is just THE MINIMUM needed to keep your organs functioning…but it sure isn’t enough to keep your blood hydrated and your veins free and clear!

If you’re active, if you’re sick or if you’re overweight,  you need a whole lot more than just eight, 8-ounce glasses of water a day to equip the body to battle things like stroke or high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, and a multitude of other conditions!  Water is positively key to your prevention and recovery…you were wired that way!

Best selling author of “Your body’s Many Cries for Water” and “You’re not sick, you’re thirsty“, Dr.  F. Batmanghelidj, has this to say about water:

“So share this blessing of God {water} with others, and take a stand to stop the present health care ‘sting’ against those who do not yet know that chronic dehydration is the root cause of most degenerative diseases of the human body”

Seniors are generally more dehydrated than younger people primarily because  we lose our sense of thirst as we age.  We may need to be reminded to drink instead of waiting for the brain to trigger thirst.  Lots of people set alarms to be reminded to take medications, perhaps it’s time to set up a reliable reminder to prompt you to drink water too.  Relying on your sense of thirst won’t do the trick.  By the time the average person “feels” thirsty, they are already chronically dehydrated and ready for disaster.

Now that you know that stroke (among LOTS OF OTHER THINGS) can be triggered or worsened by dehydration, don’t you think it’s time to do something about it?

How much research do you need to read before you take action to properly hydrate your body with W A T E R?  It all comes down to basic biology.  No amount of consuming any other fluids can replace the body’s need for water.  In fact, most choice beverages actually cause the body to work harder just to rid itself of toxins introduced by replacing water with another beverage.

If water is so important, don’t you think the kind of water you drink might be important too?  Of course it is!  It doesn’t make much sense to consume water that has no minerals whatsoever (causes the body to deplete itself of minerals from within which leads to degeneration) and it doesn’t make much sense to drink water that is laced with the chemicals necessary to make human waste potable.  After you make the decision to consume the amount of water your body needs; you’ll need to decide what kind of SAFE and HEALTHY water you’ll be introducing to your body.  There aren’t a whole lot of options when you look at it that way!  Electrolyzed Reduced Water (ERW) is the ONLY way to go for me and my family.   After doing our own research; the choice was easy for us. How much research (and testimonials) do you need to see before you embrace Electrolyzed Reduced Water as being the most beneficial water for the human body?

I know that my days are numbered but I don’t buy in to the idea that I’m supposed to rot prior to my death, so I’m giving my body what it needs to avoid things like stroke, cancer, arthritis, diabetes, etc., instead of looking for a pill to fix my problem later.  After all, there is no cure for any disease whatsoever.  With that in mind, it’s time to FIGHT FOR HEALTH!

Do yourself, your brain (and the rest of your body) and your family a favor.  HYDRATE NOW!

Have we Lost Sight of the Miraculous? Apparently so.

the bodyA miracle by a different name is still a miracle.  Whether you give credit for your existence to some great cosmic boom or you give credit to a Creator like I do,  the human body is still nothing short of a miracle.  Yes,  we’ve lost site of the miraculous nature  of the human body.  We take it for granted and we treat it like yesterday’s trash.

We live like we’re the Energizer Bunny…as if the body will just keep going and going all on its own. In fact, most of us pay more attention to the routine maintenance required to keep our vehicles running properly than we do the human body…an obvious sign that we’ve lost site of the miraculous.

I think it’s time to revisit the miraculous nature of the gift we’ve all been given:

The cardiovascular System –  At the center of the human cardiovascular system is the heart. The human heart is a muscular organ that is a bioengineering marvel.  It works flawlessly, 24/7, throughout the lifetime of each of us and it delivers the blood, a truly miraculous substance made up of 90% water, to all parts of the human body through a miraculously engineered network of arteries and veins.

The respiratory system –  Breathing brings oxygen into a unique set of organs called the lungs. Deep inside the lungs, that oxygen is transferred into the water-based blood system and is used to power all of our muscles, including the muscles that produce the breathing.

The human nervous system – The nervous system starts with the brain, extends down to the spinal cord and connects to every single part of your body through a miraculous network of fibers known as the peripheral nervous system. At the heart of this system is the neuron, a specialized cell that uses water to carry electrical impulses along neural pathways of the nervous system.

The reproductive system:  Of all of the body’s major systems, only the reproductive organs are different in men and women.  There is no greater miracle on the planet than the Creation of a new life… from the genetic basis of life,  to the development of sex organs, to the formation of sex cells, to conception, to the emergence of the embryo, to the growth sequence of the fetus, and finally to the birth of a new human life.  This new life is a miniature version of you with one exception.  At birth this baby is 90% water and (if we’re not careful) by the time we die we are less than 50% water.

The Sensory system:  – Touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight – the human body’s five major senses.  These senses are brought together by our miraculous central nervous system into the most refined way of interacting with the environment of any species on the planet.  The brain is 85% water and it triggers  each of these senses to produce what we call the human being.

The digestive and renal system –  The human body takes in food and water  through a miraculous sequence of mechanical and chemical processes.  Next the body converts that food into nutrients that sustain all the body’s activities while the water serves as the delivery system.    Water is often referred to as the conduit to every electrical impulse that takes place in the human body.

Now that we’ve completed this refresher course as a friendly reminder of the gift of life, will you continue to overlook what your body needs to maintain health and sustain life?

Air isn’t “just air”.   Your body needs to breathe in clean air to function properly.  It matters what kind of air you’re breathing and whether or not your body will benefit or self destruct because of it.

Food isn’t “just food”.  Your body needs healthy, pesticide and GMO-free food to function optimally.   The quality of the food you ingest is directly related to the performance of the human body.  Fill up with acidic,  toxic- laced food and you’ll pay the ultimate price for it.  When it comes to food, junk food can be described in more ways than one.

Water isn’t “just water”.  Water is the source of life and the most important nutrient for the human body and yet it is the most overlooked in terms of health and wellness.   Your body needs healthy water to function optimally.  With your blood consisting of 90% water, the brain 85% water and all of the rest of  you 70% water,  how can you possibly believe that the quantity or quality of the water that you drink doesn’t matter?  Try that strategy on your vehicle sometime.  Make sure that the fluid levels are much lower than recommended and when you add fluids don’t worry about how much or what kind of fluids you add.    Let me know how that works out for you.  The human body deserves a whole lot more attention to quantity and quality…unless you’ve lost site of the miraculous, that is.  You’d be absolutely amazed at the miraculous healing your body can do all on its own if you just give it what it needs.

We may not come in to this world with an Owner’s Manual but we are all given a Maintenance Checklist.  What we do with it is up to us.  Maybe you trust in another cosmic boom to take place to restore your health.  I think I will keep being thankful to my Creator and I’ll treat my body like the miracle I believe that it is by following the Maintenance Checklist.

Bottoms-up, Boomers!
