Is Your Water GREEN? If You’re SMART It Is!

greenIt’s hilarious to look into the eyes of someone as they arrogantly proclaim that they would NEVER EVER consider drinking something as unhealthy as sodas or a sports drinks. They usually have an air of superiority as if they’ve figured out the secret to life while most of the world is stuck in the dark ages.  Many of these know-it-all’s gave up gluten long ago and they can tell you more about juicing than the manufacturers of the juicers can.  They refrain from anything with a hint of GMO and they can read (and understand) the labels on all containers.

These folks may run circles around me in some ways, but they never cease to amaze me as they preach about the dangers of our food supply while toting around commercially bottled water as if it’s one more step in their journey toward GREEN.  The only thing good about commercially bottled water is the convenience of being able to drink it up and toss it away so that it becomes somebody else’s problem somewhere down-the-line.  So much for being GREEN and socially responsible.

Most bottled water IS tap water and, in addition to being as oxidative (aging) as one of those sodas that they’d rather die than drink, it is housed in a container that is known to wreak havoc on our health AND our environment.  So much for  going GREEN!

Until we understand that what we drink is just as (even more) important as what we eat, we can’t possibly master the goal to go GREEN.  In fact, as long as we’re eating healthy, organic, non GMO, preservative-free, gluten-free food only to wash it down with unhealthy water housed in toxic containers  we haven’t accomplished anything CLOSE to what we set out to.  So much for going GREEN.

There are socially responsible water options that are healthy for you AND healthy for the environment and that don’t cost (on the average) $12.00 a gallon, and water than can be  defined as “GREEN” and “organic” in every sense of the word.  Of course, you lose the convenience of being able to drink it up and toss it away for somebody else to deal with later on BUT; you AND the planet will be much better off because of it.

GO GREEN once and for all in every way that matters!

Liar Liar Pants on Fire! Put it Out With Coca Cola Products!

vitamin water

Leave it up to Coca-Cola to use twisted logic when defending the false advertising  lawsuit against challenging “VitaminWater”  by asserting that “no consumer could reasonably be misled into thinking VitaminWater was a healthy beverage.”  Really?  Then why did you name it VitaminWater in the first place?

Coca-Cola has told their faithful followers many lies over the years.  When soda sales began to decline, Coca-Cola lead the race for the billion dollar bottled water business.  They launched Dasani as a cool, crisp, flavorful,  natural and healthy water.  Here’s what they say about the process:

To create DASANI water, we start with the local water supply, which is then filtered for purity using a state-of-the-art process called reverse osmosis.  DASANI will hold its crisp, refreshing taste for up to 12 months.  After that, it’s best to recycle the old one and start with a fresh, new bottle.

“Recycle” the old one and start with a “fresh new bottle”?  Interesting.  What can go bad with an air tight bottled of chemical-free water?  I don’t know about you, but that makes me pretty suspicious.  Do they know that the toxic plastic from the packaging leaches into the water or are they just preparing you to spend a few more bucks?  BOTH is the right answer.  By the way, I’m glaring at a bottle of Dasani right now and there isn’t any indication of how long ago it was bottled.  Hmm…

I’m not quite sure what Coca-Cola thinks is so magical about robbing the local water source and running it through a filtration system KNOWN to be harmful to the human body.  I wouldn’t call that “state-of-the-art” but it’s living proof that consumers will buy any lie you tell them IF you package it up and spin it.

In  “Hydration Tips from the Coca-Cola Company(a guide marketed to power athletes),  Coca-Cola does stress the importance of good hydration.  That’s the good news.  The bad news is they continue to send the wrong, unhealthy message with a spin:

All beverages, including those with caffeine, contribute to total daily hydration.  If you’re not in the mood for water, it’s okay to reach for something else you enjoy like a sports drink, tea or soft drink.

Contrary to the lies being told, NOTHING takes the place of healthy water.  You may not die of thirst as long as you’re consuming some sort of fluid BUT you aren’t truly hydrated AND your health will suffer from the lack of water.  Just give it a little time.  Maybe Coca-Cola will come out with some sort of Anti Disease Water as an antidote.  Who knows?  Americans might buy into that too!

As for me,  I choose to be socially responsible (and healthier) by drinking Kangen Water in a BPA free containers,
