Headlines: “Genetically Engineered Cow Produces Allergy-Free Milk”? Sounds Like a Bad Science Fiction Movie!

Where does it end?

Instead of spending time and money to determine WHY so many people are suffering with allergies these days we’re “genetically engineering” cows?

  I’m no scientist but I have lived long enough to know that it hasn’t always been this way.  Throughout my childhood and young adult years I didn’t know of anyone with allergies to dairy, nuts,  wheat, etc., and NO they weren’t overlooked…they didn’t exist.  Don’t you wonder why allergies are such a problem today?  You should!

Let’s focus on the root problem and leave the poor cows alone!

What Have We Done To Our Children??? Will You Take Responsibility?


In a study spearheaded by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), researchers found as many as 287 toxic chemicals in newborn babies:

180 of these chemicals are KNOWN to cause cancer in humans

217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system

208 cause developmental problems

A little bit of arsenic in chicken….a few pesticides on veggies…a few hundred chemicals in drinking water and what do you get?  A toxic, sick, obese generation riddled with problems that nobody should have.  The National Institute of Health says that our babies are being born “pre-polluted”.  Is it any wonder that we are  labeled as the first generation to be burying our young?

You’re on the Titanic.  The ship is sinking.  Will you grab onto a life raft or will you keep ignoring the situation and go down with the ship?  I’m grabbing onto life rafts and I’m fighting with everything I’ve got.  I’m keeping an open mind about things unfamiliar to me and I’m making lots of changes so that I can lead my own family by example.   I believe that the next generation is worth it.

I Used To Be a “Free Radical”…Now They Are My Enemy!


I lived a worry-free life for a very long time.  I didn’t give a second thought to organic eating or a wellness protocol.  In fact, I made jokes about both.   It wouldn’t have occurred to me that “oxidative stress” had anything to do with the human body.  I was a “free radical” with good health and not a care in the world.   Then something strange happened….I woke up.  I’m fortunate that it didn’t take a major health crisis to jar me awake!    When I opened my eyes (and mind) I learned that there are HUGE health issues all around me that have little to do with age and everything to do with lifestyle and environmental exposure!

I learned that the cancer rate in America is 1 in every 2 males and 1 in every 3 females and that it is no respecter of age.  As the mother of 2 boys and 2 girls and the grandmother to a 1 year-old grandson the odds are too scary to ponder.  Cancer is wreaking havoc on our world and, from the outside looking in, it appears like we’re much more focused on a C U R E than we are about prevention.  Of course, that could just be the “free radical” in me speaking up!

I learned that the rate of autism is off-the-charts striking 1 in every 88 children across America.  As a military mom I am extremely troubled by the fact that these rates are HIGHER on military bases…1 in 68!   Hmm…looks like an environmental problem to me!   There goes that “free radical” spirit again!

I learned that “Free Radicals” were not a good thing and that if I didn’t do something to make changes in my own life, and to lead by example for the next generation(s),  these free radicals could literally be the  slow death of us all.

It’s painful to wake up and to assume responsibility BUT now I’m FREE to be RADICAL about our current health crisis and, in keeping with the personality of my younger years, I intend to be bold in the fight.  So…if I step on your toes from time-to-time it’s probably best to just push the delete button.  I’m not going anywhere and I’m not going to stop fighting for the next generation.  After all, I have a responsibility to “save” them from other “free radicals” like me too clueless to speak the truth.

Pregnant Women…Prescription for Good Health

Every expectant mother knows that good nutrition is important during pregnancy. But a group of 30 pregnant women under the care of he People’s Community Clinic in Austin, Tex. has an extra incentive to eat well. Their doctors are giving all of them an unusual prescription for something other than a pharmaceutical drug: fruits and vegetables.

The FVRx produce prescriptions, as they are known, have been around for about a year in several clinics around the country. They entitle each user to a $1 per day subsidies on fresh fruits or vegetables, most often at farmers’ markets.

The 30 women at the People’s Community Clinic, which serves 11,000 low-income patients, are also receiving cooking classes that encourage them to actually use the produce they buy.

The idea behind the trial is both that women need to eat well for their developing children during pregnancy, and also that pregnancy is a time when women are particularly open to the idea of eating produce. So the clinicians and their financial backers at St. David’s Foundation and Wholesome Wave hope that many of the participants will continue eating fruits and vegetables even after their babies are born.

Don’t Wash Your Veggies?

Do you take special care to wash your fruits and veggies before they are prepared to eat?  If you live on a public water supply system don’t bother.  You would be better served to wipe them off than you are to wash them.  Why?  Because pesticides are made to be water repellent, you won’t be removing them with tap water.   More importantly, you’ll be making matters worse.  Public water systems are laced with chemicals and LOTS of chlorine so that they can make sewage drinkable.  Yuck!  Many of your fruits and veggies are porous in nature and they will ABSORB much more than you’ll ever be able to wash off of them.  Scary, huh?

You can easily test this theory with chlorine drops.  Fill a small clear glass with tap water.  Add a few drops of chlorine tester (you can purchase this at Walmart in the pool section).  When you add the drops you’ll see that the water turns yellow because it is detecting the chlorine.  Next cut up an onion and add it to the water.  Stir it around so that the onion is fully exposed to the water and let it sit for a few minutes.  Next pour off the water into another clear glass.  You’ll see that the water is clear again which means that ALL of the chlorine has been removed from the water.  Where did it go?  This isn’t a magic trick…it’s just science.  The chlorine from your water was fully absorbed into the onion.  If you’re having trouble wrapping your head around this like I did, add drops to the water that you poured off of the onion and you’ll see that it won’t turn yellow again…there is no chlorine.  Sad but true.

So, what in the world can you do to remove pesticides IF you can’t afford to buy organic?   I use 11.5 Kangen water to wash and soak my fruits and veggies in.  The high pH level is so alkaline that it penetrates the pesticides and washes them clean and clear of ALL chemicals.  After that I go the extra mile and I rinse them in 2.5 Kangen water to kill all bacteria.  Nothing can survive 2.5 pH water…not e-Coli…not salmonella…nothing.

In my opinion, a Kangen water machine is the best investment anyone could make for their health.  In addition to creating the purest drinking water on the planet, you can adjust the pH levels to do LOTS of healthy things for you and your family.
