It May Not Be In Your Head But It Could Be In Your Brain!

brain in your head

Did you know that if your brain is dehydrated by as little as 1% you LOSE 10% brain capacity? With epidemic issues like Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, ADD, ADHD, and depression, you SHOULD sit up and take notice of the importance of PROPER hydration before it’s too late!

It is reported that 75% of America is walking around CHRONICALLY dehydrated – despite consuming 1500 bottles of commercially bottled water EVERY SECOND in the USA!  Just imagine how many bottles we’d consume IF we were remaining hydrated!

Somehow we’ve convinced ourselves that we can easily (and safely) replace the need for water by swapping it out for another drink-of-choice.  That should come as no surprise since our physicians replaced “drink plenty of water” with “drink plenty of fluids” years ago.   Don’t kid yourselves…THEY KNOW nothing replaces the body’s need for water.  If they didn’t I.V. bags would be full of your drink-of-choice instead of purified water.  If you want to REGAIN or SUSTAIN your health, you NEED plenty of water. Although you may not die of thirst if you continue to consume fluids of one kind or another; you WILL pay the ultimate price with your health for not drinking healthy water.

Your brain (and all of the rest of you) needs water. In fact, water is the most important nutrient for the human body!  So, if water is that important to the body, don’t you think that the quality of the water is equally important?

Most of us care more about the quality of our wine than we do about the quality of our water.   There is something very sad and very bizarre about that thought process.

No doubt Americans DO need to hydrate the brain.  It seems like we’ve forgotten some pretty basic things about health and the human body.

From Colon to Brain? That Ought to be Enough to Make Anybody Drink!

Don’t expect to sustain good health if you refuse to drink plenty of healthy water!  When the body falls short of water for normal activities like digestion and elimination of wastes, it has a built-in survival mechanism to draw from its own water reserves.  The body miraculously prioritizes the needs.  It will always extract water from “lower priority areas” like the colon and then will transfer it to areas of higher importance like the brain, heart and so on.  Now that’s a nasty thought!  Water from your colon to hydrate your brain?  That alone should be enough incentive for you to be sure you remain properly hydrated with safe, healthy water!

It is important to understand that when water reserves have been exhausted from a low priority area like the colon, it will then draw from the next lowest priority areas such as the joints, skin and so on.  Over time, if the body is forced to draw upon its own reserves because its water needs are not being met, a range of seemingly unconnected symptoms will begin to manifest.  Symptoms of dehydration can include aches and pains such as headaches and joint pain, constipation, digestive imbalances like acid re-flux, skin issues, asthma and even depression as the brain is deprived of water.

Dehydration is nothing to take lightly.  Before you rush off to treat your symptoms with medication, get serious about giving your body what it needs to maintain proper hydration.  Absolutely nothing takes the place of water.  If you doubt that, try filling a fishbowl with your favorite energy drink or water your plants with a Starbucks coffee.  The human body is NO different…nothing replaces the need for water, no matter how much “water” is a part of what you’re drinking!

If you’re committed to drinking water for your health and wellness, doesn’t it make sense that you understand a little more about what kind of water you’re drinking?

I think they’re worth it.

Do YOU think you’re worth it?

Mommy…What Did You Eat and Drink 10, 20, 30 years ago? Uh oh…

Research studies report that there are as many as  287 industrial compounds, pollutants, and other chemicals found in the umbilical cords of newborn babies.  How sad that our babies are contaminated and biologically aged before we hold them in our arms for the first time!    Here is the risk break down of the chemicals found:

-180 of these chemicals are know to cause cancer in humans

217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system

208 cause developmental problems

Is it any wonder that the cancer rate in America is 1 in every 2 males, 1 in every 3 females and that Autism is striking 1 in every 50 children?  WAKE UP!

The Presidents Cancer Panel study conducted by NIH in 2008-2009 says this:

Page 129 – In addition to exposures that directly or indirectly damage DNA, evidence suggests that some environmental agents may initiate or promote cancer by disrupting normal immune and endocrine system functions. The burgeoning number and complexity of known or suspected environmental carcinogens compel us to act to protect public health, even though we may lack irrefutable proof of harm.

Did you catch that?  Exposures that DIRECTLY and INDIRECTLY damage DNA?

Page 111 – It is vitally important to recognize that children are far more susceptible to damage from environmental carcinogens and endocrine-disrupting compounds than adults. To the extent possible, parents and child care providers should choose foods, house and garden products, play spaces, toys, medicines, and medical tests that will minimize children’s exposure to toxins.  Ideally, both mothers and fathers should avoid exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals and known or suspected carcinogens prior to a child’s conception and throughout pregnancy and early life, when risk of damage is greatest.

Parents and grandparents, its time to take serious action.   Dietary caution throughout pregnancy isn’t enough.   Avoiding harmful exposure AND detoxing of existing contaminants is vital.  Where do you begin?  Start with the basics.  Your body is made up of 70% water…IT MUST BE THE BEST that you can find.    Water in toxic bottles that make claims about being from some natural spring (ha!) is NOT a healthy option.  Tap water that is known to contain up to 300 chemicals just to make it potable is NOT a healthy option.  Brita-type filters that filter out some of the contaminants and leave the water highly acidic is NOT a healthy option.  As for me and my family and all of the generations to come the answer is Electrolyzed Reduced Water.   I sleep better at night knowing that my family is drinking medical grade, restructured HEALTHY and, in my opinion PERFECT water.  How about you?

Disease, behavioral problems, autism, and a multitude of other things will continue to challenge the generations to come UNLESS we take action NOW.  Just by changing your water, you can profoundly change your life!

Withholding Fluids From Young Children…Child Abuse or School Compliance?

The Ultimate Price for Bathroom Use

Kids Have to “Pay” to Use the Bathroom in School?

I’ve always thought that eliminating waste was a human necessity and not an earned privilege; but it looks like schools across America have a different idea.

Texas – A second-grade teacher charges good-behavior “bucks” for bathroom visits.  Consequently a seven-year-old boy wet his pants in class because he hadn’t accumulated enough good behavior credits to secure a trip to the bathroom.

Chicago – School officials at a public elementary school in Chicago are ordering teachers to sign students up for “designated restroom times” when entire, overcrowded classes of little kids must use the bathroom each day.  The rationale for the “pee policy” is to improve the school’s standardized test results.

California – The mother of a 7-year-old Irving elementary school student says her son wet his pants in class after his teacher refused to let him use the restroom because the honor roll student didn’t have enough “Bonus Bucks” for a potty break.

NEWS FLASH: A ‘normal’ urination rate (of a hydrated human) is eight to 10 times a day.  When nature calls it’s time to go!  School schedules don’t have a whole lot to do with anything when it comes to bodily function.  Sorry teachers, you would NEVER have that much control over my kids!

I’m shocked when I coach people on the importance of efficient hydration for health and they complain that they can’t drink a lot of water because (if they do) they’d have to “live in the toilet”.  Are we so busy that using the toilet has become nothing more than a nuisance?  Apparently so.  Just ask our school teachers!   From their standpoint, there just aren’t enough hours in the day to be bothered with unnecessary things like potty breaks!

WARNING:  The longer you hold your urine the likelier it is that the bladder will become a breeding ground for bacteria to grow.  Bacteria can lead to infections which can spread to kidneys and cause greater damage to the body over all.  Holding your urine is NOT a good thing.  Withholding fluids is far worse.

Dehydration is the leading cause of many chronic conditions and water is the key to all life (and health).  If you want your kid to do their best in school then HYDRATE THEM!  How can a dehydrated brain function at its maximum potential?   Just keep in mind that what goes in MUST come out.  You’ll have to fight for potty breaks if you have a hydrated kid.

In order to avoid the potty problem (and the potential for bullying over an “accident”) countless parents are now withholding fluids from their little ones.  I don’t know what’s worse ; schools that think that using the bathroom is an earned privilege or parents that would rather have a dehydrated child than to fight the schools for their basic human rights.  Hmm…

It’s no wonder we have a health crisis in America…

12 Million Kids With Asthma? What’s Going On????

kid with inhaler

When my kids were young it was rare to see a child hauling around an inhaler or needing a time out for a Nebulizer treatment.   Today it is reported that 2 in every 10 kids are being treated for asthma.  What in the world is going on?

I don’t doubt that asthma is a real problem but I can’t help but wonder if small changes could make a big difference.

Dr. Batmanghelidj, author of Your Body’s Many Cries for Water has this to say:

“It is estimated that 12 million children suffer from asthma, and several thousand die every year.  Let us declare an end to asthma in less than five years.   Let us save children from the constant fear of suffocation because they do not recognize that they are thirsty for water!”

If your child suffers from asthma you might be rolling your eyes right now at the audacity of this pioneering physician (with 20 years of clinical and scientific research on the role of water in the body)  to suggest that water could make a difference for your child with asthma.  Perhaps  that is part of the problem.  We can’t see the forest for the trees anymore.  Maybe we’ve gotten so far down the line with modern medicine (that seemingly has a pharmaceutical answer for everything) that we can’t…or won’t…consider the root cause of the problem or the basic biological needs of the human body.

Every medical “expert” will agree that there is a definite relationship between dehydration and excessive histamine production in the body.  With this in mind, doesn’t it make sense that if the body is properly (and consistently) hydrated that the amount of  histamine would be more manageable?

I have spoken with mothers of grade school children who are withholding fluids from their children before school because their kids  aren’t permitted to use the restroom outside of planned breaks and lunch time,  One “accident” sealed the deal in every situation.  How pathetic.  Our children are dehydrated (and sick) because school rules dictate when they can use the facilities ?  With that in mind, most grade school children are only consuming 6-8 ounces of fluids (at lunch time) for the entire day.  That’s not enough to hydrate a small dog and yet we expect them to have energy and brain power to get through the day.  If that isn’t losing sight of the needs of the human body I don’t know what is!

Get back to basics and FORCE your children to drink plenty of (healthy) water before, during and after school.  Rally against the schools if you have to!  Your children deserve to be hydrated and you just might be amazed at the results.

Stop Treating The Gallbladder Like a “Spare Part”

gallbladderGallbladder surgery used to be associated with older people.  It was explained away by saying that (over time) the gallbladder just quit doing what it’s supposed to do and it became a problem.   Since it is not a critical component (you can live without it) the easy fix is to remove it.   While it is true that you can live without a gallbladder, that doesn’t change the fact that it serves a very important purpose.

Today, the number of young people having gallbladder surgery is alarming.  In fact, it is reported that the removal of the gallbladder is “the number one surgery in young women today”.   Sadly, the people that I’ve talked to about having surgery at a young age just shrug their shoulders and say “it’s just a gallbladder”.   Apparently we’ve led them to believe that they have spare parts while we should be giving them a biology lesson on the importance of the gallbladder right along with steps that they can take to nurse their YOUNG gallbladder back into a healthy state.

Most people in the US undergo a surgery at the onset of gallbladder problems because they are eager to get rid of the unbearable pain, bloating, nausea and diarrhea.  THAT’S certainly understandable BUT do they get rid of the symptoms for good? Although almost 60% of the people don’t face any serious symptoms post surgery, many are not so lucky and they face various symptoms in the long run.  Here are just a few:

Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Even after gallbladder removal, the liver continues to produce bile in order to digest the fats. However, due to the absence of the gallbladder, which earlier stored bile, the bile released from the liver has no storage place to go (there goes that spare part again). So the bile is readily dumped into the intestine and digestion takes place. However, even when the person hasn’t eaten anything, bile will continue to flow into the intestines and irritate it. In the long run, this can lead to colon cancer.

Chronic Diarrhea
Some people simply can’t digest the added fat that is dumped into the intestine in the absence of the gallbladder.   Because the bile secreted from the liver has no place to get collected and gets dumped into the intestines (dumping syndrome), it also results in diarrhea. The person gets stuck with chronic diarrhea and must adhere to very strict dietary guiltiness.  This chronic diarrhea may go on for months or even years.   For some, it never goes away.

Gallstones Formation
The liver produces less bile after gallbladder removal, which is thick and sluggish and leads to pain and gallstones formation.  Some people develop gallstones after removal of the gallbladder.

For some people, undergoing a gallbladder surgery is inevitable. However, it is believed (throughout the health and wellness community) that over 70% of patients could avoid gallbladder surgery by opting for natural remedies.  Unfortunately, we live in a disposable society and most people have their gallbladder removed without seriously considering the natural options available.  I encourage you (and the young people in your life) to carefully consider a holistic approach to treating gallbladder “issues” before rushing out to discard of this organ that was clearly designed to be a part of a healthy functioning body.  Nope…we weren’t born with spare parts.

Got Coke, Sprite, Bottled Tap Water or M I L K? Where Does The Madness End?

Coca Cola just announced that it will begin selling a “premium-priced, protein-boosted milk” under its Fairlife label. It will be available nationally next month when their advertising blitz begins. Will you be a victim of good marketing and compelling advertising?  Maybe so!

Bloomberg reports the following:

At a recent conference announcing Fairlife, Sandy Douglas, the president of Coca-Cola North America, said the company expects the premium milk to “rain money” following extensive marketing efforts (which, so far, include a website with pin-up style images of women wearing liquid milk dresses).

Coke says the milk (to be priced in the $4.00 per half-gallon range) will be “cold-filtered so that it has 50% more protein, 50% less sugar and 30% more calcium than conventional milk”.  It will also be promoted as lactose-free and will be displayed in the dairy case right along with all of the other milk products.  Rest assured, there isn’t a cow on the planet capable of producing “milk” as defined by Coca-Cola.  So…what is it?

So far Coca-Cola has managed to convince millions and millions of people year-after-year that Coke is a good hydration option when you don’t feel like drinking water.  When Coca-Cola saw soda sales slipping they tuned-in to the world’s growing interest in water and they brilliantly put a spin on their bottled tap water by calling it “purified” and healthy.  So why would we be surprised that Coke is rolling out an engineered “milk” and promoting it as a viable option as a “dairy” products?  Anything to make a dollar.

This move to capture the milk market comes as carbonated drink sales continue to decline in the U.S.  The good news is that we’re having an impact on soda sales as we preach about the consequences to our health.  The bad news is that companies like Coca-Cola have no limits on the falsehoods that they’ll promote just to hustle products to clueless and careless consumers.

It’s time to get back to basics and reconsider all beverages.  Your body is 70% water and it needs lots of healthy water to function optimally…not Coca-Cola, Sprite or artificial “milk”.

You won’t find healthy water in your tap.

You won’t find healthy water in a plastic bottle.

You won’t find healthy water in your refrigerator water dispenser or through a carbon filter pitcher.

You’ll find healthy water when you make the decision to produce it yourself using a quality ionizer.  No more parasites, no more pharmaceuticals, no more BPA, no more chemicals, no more oxidative water.  Just pure, ionized, alkalized, electrically charged water.  You know, the way water was in the olden days before we messed things up.  What a novel concept!

Got (Imported) Milk?

In 1985  Congress authorized the “Dairy Termination Program” – a more transparent description than “herd retirement.”  The government  removed a staggering 12 billion pounds of milk from the US supply over an 18-month period, and the USDA took “bids” from farmers on how much they were willing to be paid to slaughter their cows so that our milk production would be drastically reduced.  By the end of the program, some 1.6 million dairy cattle were either slaughtered or exported.

Today the United States is the biggest milk exporting AND importing country in the world.  The US imports milk from 30 countries around the globe, including  Japan.   The biggest exporting country of milk to the US is Greece, followed by Canada,  Mexico, Spain and the UK.  All together about 86% of our milk is imported from across the globe.

So….the US offered irresistible incentives to dairy farmers to slaughter their herds to reduce our milk supply so that they can IMPORT milk from as far away as Japan?  Is it any wonder why we have problems?

In addition to worrying about what’s IN your milk, now you have to worry about what continent it comes from.  I wonder how it makes financial sense to ship gallons of milk around the globe?

How about a little imported milk with that cereal?

Heart Attacks and Dehydration…Warning!

heartOne particular heart condition is rarely discussed and yet it can attributed to thousands of deaths each year in the U.S. alone.  Cardiovascular Shock, more commonly known by its primary cause“Dehydration”.

Cardiovascular Shock occurs when the body becomes dehydrated that it plunges into a state of shock. This is the main reason why the vast majority of heart attacks (and strokes) happen late at night or in the wee hours of the morning. While you’re resting, your body is working overtime to repair and replenish itself and it uses a lot of fluids to do the job so your body becomes chronically dehydrated during your sleep.  Imagine the damage that you’re bringing upon yourself by not drinking enough fluids throughout the day to compensate for the late night needs of the body.  It’s highly recommended that you drink a few large glasses of room temperature water as soon as you rise in the morning so that you address dehydration before you begin your daily routine. Your coffee (diuretic) and the morning work-out (more dehydration) can wait until you’ve addressed your body’s basic needs for survival.

Dehydration is not an uncommon problem. In fact, it is reported that as many as 80 percent of Americans are living in a continuous state of sub-clinical dehydration and are not even aware of it.  A sub-clinical state is defined as being just enough dehydration to be a potential problem but not enough to cause severe symptoms (yet).  In other words, you are teetering on the edge of disaster and it’s only a matter of time before dehydration kills you…either slowly from a chronic disease or all at once with a fatal heart attack or stroke.  Is it really worth the risk to you?

Most people make a few mistakes when it comes to hydration.  First, they often change out water for another fluid. No matter what the label on the bottle says or how refreshing your fluid looks in a glass, NOTHING replaces the body’s need for healthy water. You may not die of thirst as long as you are drinking something but you’re assuredly doing serious damage to your body by denying it what it needs.  Replacing healthy water for another fluid is not an option if you care about your health.

The next mistake that people make when it comes to hydration is that they rely on feeling thirsty and then they only drink enough to satisfy their thirst but not enough to safeguard normal physiology.  Your sense of thirst is your body’s warning signal to let you know that you are already chronically dehydrated.  Do you wait until the warning light on the dashboard of your car comes on before you tend to what your vehicle needs?  Warning lights are WARNINGS and not a simple prompt intended to signal you to add just enough fluid to make the warning light go out! You may not have been born with an Owner’s Manual but we all know from science and physicians that the body needs a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day JUST TO STAY ALIVE. I’m thinking that living life will require that you consume a lot more than that.

Unfortunately, In a great percentage of dehydration victims the first symptoms are often fatal. The tragedy of this condition is that it could have easily been avoided by simply increasing the intake of healthy water.

Bottoms-up, Boomers!
