There isn’t much that sets aside one standard kitchen appliance from another.  After all, refrigerators store your food and stoves cook it (with a little help).  Microwaves nuke cook your food faster and dishwashers clean up the mess.  All of them cost you money to buy and money to maintain and none of the will  save your household money in the long-run whatsoever…until now.

Since most newer appliances are energy efficient these days, if you’ve seen one you’ve seen-them-all when it comes to cost to operate. While it’s nice to be mindful of the electrical expense associated with operating your appliance, that is the only savings that you’ll see in ownership.  The kitchen appliances in your home aren’t tax deductible either because they aren’t designed to do anything more for you than cool, cook or wash. 

Most kitchen appliances come with a 1-2 year limited manufacturer’s warranty.  An extended warranty is also available for purchase from most retailers for a small fortune. Consumer reports say that the average kitchen appliance has a lifespan of 5-10 years. These days, if we get 10 years out of a refrigerator we think we’ve won the lottery!
