One of the great things about managing my own blog is that I can say whatever I want to say…at least for now.
Whether or not you agree with the (off set) remarks made by Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty is irrelevant. The real issue is whether we have the right to speak freely at all.
If you’ve followed my blog you should know that I’m a conservative. I haven’t beaten you over the head with my conservative beliefs but I voice them nonetheless. You can read it or not. That’s your choice. If you don’t like what I have to say that doesn’t (or shouldn’t) impact my right to say it in the first place.
Rest assured, as a conservative I am deeply offended by much of what I hear and see in the world today. In fact, much of what I see and hear doesn’t just go against my core beliefs, it repulses me. However, whether I like what is being said or not, or whether I accept lifestyle choices being turned into politics or not, it doesn’t change the fact that ALL Americans have the right to speak. This includes conservative Christians…ranting or not.
There is something strange about liberals watching conservative Christian TV shows and reading interviews of conservative Christians. How could they expect NOT to be offended? After all, they went looking for love in all the wrong places! Since I don’t like what many liberals have to say I simply don’t “go there” and I sure don’t listen to them. They have a right to speak but I’m certainly not obliged to listen. Liberals should try that strategy sometime! It’s a whole lot less combative this way!
There is an old saying that goes like this, “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander”. That simply means that what applies to one…applies to the other. We’ll just have to agree to disagree. A one-sided shut down is not an option. After all, if conservatives succeeded in having every liberal TV show and article written pulled off the air, there sure wouldn’t be a whole lot of entertainment options out there!
Liberals…do yourself a favor. Quit obsessing over the other side and just quit listening to it. It’s much more peaceful and far more Constitutional this way.
